Curing Membrane

Definition of a Curing Membrane

A liquid membrane applied to concrete surfaces to prevent water loss. Think of a liquid applied cling film.

Typical Uses
  • Floor slabs
  • Retaining walls
  • Columns
  • Piers
  • Concrete roads

Concrete cures by chemical processes as opposed to hardening or drying. The water content of the mix is a part of that chemical process and it is important that is is not allowed to escape. If it does the concrete surface may crack or become weak.

This is important especially where loose or cracked surface would lead to problems with further finishes or where the friable surface would give a long lasting dust problem.

Curing AidWhen should you use a curing membrane?
